Shortly after noon, the Bamboo Pool at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas caught fire! It looks like some careless person from either the pool or one of the terraces above dropped a cigarette in the brush, and that’s what started the blaze. It spread incredibly quickly, and burned down the surrounding trees and cabanas, but very little extension to the actual building.
Looks like firefighters have managed to extinguish the fire! No fatalities reported, but at least 1 person transported with minor injuries.
The Cosmopolitan released an official statement:
There were no serious injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Guests were alerted to the situation by our team of safety professionals and our comprehensive emergency responsive program, and proper evacuation procedures were used. At The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas the safety and security of our guests and CoStars is our first priority.
On the bright side…guests will probably get a night of resort fee waived…
*UPDATE* – They have actually re-opened the Bamboo Pool. Seems like they just enclosed the burned down area. Guest rooms on the 14th floor in the west tower remains closed, and the pool was re-opened at 10 a.m. with full service, except for the West Bar.
