Born in Tokyo, Roy Yamaguchi experienced his first taste of seafood while visiting his grandparents in Maui. He was instantly hooked: that first taste inspired what Roy wanted to do with his life.

Roy grew up to be a James Beard Award-winning chef and a visionary in the culinary world. He blended European techniques and Pacific Rim cuisine into what is now known as Hawaiian fusion, which he dished out at the first Roy’s Restaurant in Honolulu in 1988.
