The Deal

$125 for a scooter tour for two of downtown and the Strip or Red Rock Canyon (a $250 Value)

Both the 4.5-hour Red Rock Canyon tour and Las Vegas tour pick up passengers at their hotel on the Strip before whisking them away in custom, two-person open-air scooter cars. Shuttles are available from many nearby hotels as well. The red, three-wheeled vehicles zip through neon-lit streets, making occasional pit stops for photo ops at locations such as the pawn shop where Pawn Stars is filmed. Each tandem scooter car seats two people and draws interested looks from paparazzi as it scoots past luxury casinos and famed downtown signs. In all, guides lead the way to three–five stops along the nearly four-hour route. Alternatively, red rock canyon tours zip through scenic vistas, making occasional pit stops for laidback hikes or photo opportunities. Each tandem scooter car seats two people and draws interested looks from wildlife as it motors along paths at elevations of up to 5,000 feet in the mountains. In all, guides lead the way to no fewer than three stops along the 35-mile route. The Red Rock Canyon tours run twice daily until October (at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.), and once daily in November and December (at 1 p.m.). The Strip tours run daily at 6:30 a.m. until the end of October.

Johnny Yeager originally ran a Las Vegas advertising and rental business. That changed after he saw the way people gawked at one of his company’s bright red, three-wheeled scooters as it cruised through Red Rock Canyon. Beginning in 2008, Johnny experimented with using the little two-seater vehicles to ferry clients through tours of the Las Vegas landscape. Slowly, the visibility of the scooters along the Strip and at local attractions created a buzz among tourists. It wasn’t long before Johnny’s advertising business had become a booming scooter tour service thanks to social media and a charismatic troupe of guides, all well-versed in the local hotspots and best ways of sneaking scooters into buffet lines. The little red scooters go on daily tours of the Strip and have also been joined by guided car- and van-borne excursions to Sedona and Red Rock Canyon.
